This solo was orginally written for James Fountain whilst he was still an emerging talent.  James is now principal trumpet of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra - how far he has come! The Christmas Carol How Far is is to Bethlehem? is also known as 'When a Knight Won His Spurs' so is not necessarily a Christmas number and would be appropriate for any time of the year. The tune is treated in a sensitive way and allows the soloist to demonstrate lyrical playing of this famous melody.

A good concert piece for all sections
