A new baritone solo - Under an Open Sky

Iain  has written a new solo for bartione and band. The piece is called Under An Open Sky and is a beautiful slow melody in which the soloist intertwines with the band in melodious fashion and features obligato passages that can really set the soloist off in a demonstration of range and tone. The solo is available for £24.95 and is available from our Shop page. You can also listen to a sample on our Listen page.

New commissions for solo euphonium

Iain has been commissioned to write a new piece for solo euphonium for Micah Dominic Parsons. Micah, who is a student of Steven Mead and currently principal euphonium of the Jaguar Land Rover band, is planning to record and album in the near future. He asked Iain to write a solo featuring Celtic music, a genre which is close to Micah's heart. The piece is entitled 'A Celtic Rhapsody' and features three traditional Irish tunes and is a tour de force for euphonium and band. Micah is pleased with the finished result and is looking forward to trying it out with the band in the near future.

In addition, Iain has written another piece for Micah based on a folk tune called 'The Warwickshire Lad'. This piece is more of a traditional air varie solo with some exciting work for the euphonium which will really show the soloist off in fine form. Micah is hoping to premiere the solo on his 1916 Solbron euphonium.
